A commercial masonry oven, housed in a small passive solar building with a green roof.
Pole Building Construction
Completed 2005.
A new building for special events including a large commercial kitchen, a long linear gathering room, a brick oven and a service & beverage bar, along with other additional programmed servant support spaces.
It is a sustainable passive solar building with a green roof and repurposed window sash. Large overhangs manage the solar penetration into the building. During the summer months, the sun never gets a chance to penetrate the glazing. During the winter, on the shortest day the sun penetrates the entire half of the building, helping to heat the floor of an already radiantly heated concrete floor.
A green roof on an organic farm: Who knew…?
I’d heard through the grapevine that one of the contractors was actually ’Dissing’ this concept.
At least it keeps the deer out of reach of morsels they prefer to browse on anyway.
The building was completed in 2017.
